Season start date for Ladies Works League

Ladies Works League

The 2021 Season

We are planning for the 2021 Season and here are the details so far.

We plan to start the League fixtures in the week beginning the 10th of May. We are optimistic that this is a realistic date for team bowling. The go-ahead will be determined by advice from several important organisations working on our behalf - Sport England and the BCGBA/YCGBA. We will monitor these sites on a daily basis so that we can keep you all informed as the details of play emerge.

There may be some requirements (as there were in the previous tier 3) for Covid 19 risk assessments to be made at clubs/greens. Having spoken with those at Springwood BC who did just that for the Winter League we are confident that every club can do this. YCGBA then assess the Covid 19 compliance plans and grant approval if all is well. The approval process was very quick - only a couple of days. This of course may be different come May - we will have to wait and see.

We would like to have 2 sections as usual to the League and play a full programme. An individual competition remains in the plan for summer and at least one other competition later on.

What we need to know from all captains is whether they can raise a full team. Explicit numbers of players will be essential for our 2021 plans as we may have to be creative in what we do. We will be contacting captains for this information in about 2 weeks time. By then we should have more information from our governing bodies.

The BCGBA statement from the 22nd February urges " clubs to prepare with confidence for the 2021 outdoor season". So we will do just that, and hope that you are all able to do the same.

If you have any questions or anything that you would like to discuss please do get in touch - probably best to talk with Hazel who is monitoring events closely.
