Saturday League fixtures out next week

The Huddersfield Saturday League has announced on its Facebook page that it expects to release its 2021 fixtures in the next few days and has said that it expects to start the season in early/mid-June. As the Yorkshire CCGBA Hutchinson Cup has been rearranged provisionally for Saturday 12 June it would seem that Saturday 19 June is the most likely start date for the league programme.

However, if all the stories are true of teams withdrawing this year then it could become a very truncated season. Teams have been given the option to withdraw or drop to a lower level or drop to a league with teams of a smaller number of bowlers to overcome the impact of the COVID threat. All these changes will then be revoked for the 2022 season which it is hoped will revert to the same make-up as at the end of the 2019 season. The League has already announced that there will be no promotion or relegation of teams in 2021.
