Veterans 6-Man League
The Carpenters used to sing about 'Rainy Days and Mondays' always getting them down. Well we were all a little down this Monday after losing on penalties to Italy on Sunday and then facing the rain on Monday. That rain was so heavy in places that four of the 6-Man League fixtures never got started so we were even further downhearted with only 9 matches getting completed. Section A leaders Shepley 'A' wished that their match against Milnsbridge had succumbed to the elements as they lost for the first time at home this season but hang on to top spot although wins for Netherton Con and Thongsbridge 'B' brought them both into contention. Netherton won 6-1 away at Longwood whilst Thongsbridge 'B' saw off the visiting team from Crosland Moor 5-2. The fourth Section A match to be completed resulted in fourth-placed Brockholes 'A' losing at home to lowly Lindley Lib 2-5 which was a surprise outcome.
In Section B only two fixtures survived the weather and both went the expected way of the home team with the same 5-2 scoreline. Skel Windmill 'B' and Clayton West both extended their winning home records to 4 games when overcoming Marsh United and Meltham respectively.
Section C leaders Slaithwaite took their winning record to 8 matches when seeing off Thongsbridge 'A' with a 7-0 home whitewash scoreline. Holmfirth 'A' beat their club's 'B' team 5-2 to go second passing Almondbury Lib who lost 2-5 away at Hemplow.
BOWLSNET 6-MAN LEAGUE LATEST RESULTS, TABLES & AVERAGES
i would like to see clubs get rid of the click they have at some clubs ,why drop players when they have been winning .even worse if they are near top of averages,this will only cause bowlers to leave bowling or go to another club,why pick mates or same bowlers even when they are losing,Bowlers should be picked on merit not how there face looks,if you are winning in lower team .give them a chance,if they are losing give them a taste of being dropped into lower team,ive seen a bowler lose every game in the season ,and never got dropped.i also know bowlers who wont drop down ,and bowlers who wont play for a higher team,COME ON CLUBS GET…
