League News

Big week this in Division 1 as the top 6 teams play each other and the bottom 4 meet up as well in what may, even this early, be a pivotal day in the race for end of season positions. Just 1 point separates the top 5 and the top 6 all have identical Won-2 Lost-1 records.
Thongsbridge A (2nd) have home advantage over Littlemoor A (4th) with leaders Lower Hopton A greeting Denby Grange A (6th) who beat the reigning Champions last week. Pudsey A (3rd) won their delayed opening day postponed match against Dearne Sports on Saturday 10-2 will meet Crossgates A (5th). The bottom 4 are in danger of being cast adrift in their own private battle for survival remote from the main contenders so making this opportunity to claim points off their nearest rivals so important. One point between the bottom two who clash this week when Ossett Flying Horse A (11th) have home advantage over bottom team Lower Hopton B still looking for their first win at the top level. That leaves Dearne Sports and Crosland Moor both on 13 points to sort out which of them can aspire to rejoin the top sextet. Yes a pivotal day already in the top division - which way will it swing?
The top 2 in Division 2 both have 100% records to protect when they both travel to away fixtures this week. Leaders Kirkheaton Con A are at SpenVictoria A who will complete a sequence of playing the top 3 teams in their first 4 fixtures so may emerge stronger over the coming weeks. Second-placed Woodlands Park meet Brighouse Sports who are still looking for their first win of the season and third-placed Eccleshill are also on the road with a trip to Whitkirk. Pudsey B play Crossgates B in their catch-up fixture on Friday but before then
the Crossgates side will hope to have clocked up their first win of 2021 when they host Alverthorpe A in the Tuesday match. The bottom 3 are all looking for their first wins of the season and all play home matches this Tuesday. Brighouse Sports (v Woodlands Park) and The Harold Club (v Pudsey B) being the other two.

In Division 3 the top trio have already opened up a 4-point gap over the chasing pack of three teams grouped together on 17 points. That gap may become even wider this week as the top 3 face the chasing group of 3. Leaders Dodworth and Ossett C&AC (2nd) have away games at Littlemoor B (6th) and Shipley (5th) respectively whilst 3rd placed Elland have home advantage over Cleckheaton Sports A (4th). The bottom two, Horbury and Milnsbridge A are already at least 9 points behind the rest of the teams and they go head-to-head this week which already has the makings of a bottom-placed decider.
Thornhill C&BC have already built a 3-point lead over all the other teams in Division 4 and behind them 1 point separates the next 4 contenders. That may change when two of those 4 teams meet up this week when Broad Oak A have Ossett Flying Horse B as their visitors. Just behind that pack of 4 is Farsley with 2 wins from 2 games to date and they now hold the Division's only 100% win record and they will be looking to extend that sequence when visiting bottom-of-the-table Denby Grange B this week.
It is a bottom v top clash in Division 5 when struggling Marsh United welcome Morton House to their Eldon Road HQ before playing their postponed match against fellow bottom-2 opponents The Harold Club on Wednesday. Two teams locked together in the bottom half of the table on 12 points meet up this week at Cleckheaton Sports where the B side host a Almondbury Liberal side who are looking for their first win of the season, the only team in the division still awaiting that first win. Alverthorpe B and Heckmondwike sit 2nd and 3rd both on 13 points and Alverthorpe with a home game this week will be looking to move away from Heckmondwike who have a difficult looking engagement at Longwood.
The leading three teams in Division 6 all have away fixtures this week with leaders Thongsbridge B taking their 100% winning record to Bradley & Colne, never an easy place to go in my experience. Netherton Con will be aiming to close that one point gap to top spot when visiting Rastrick (4th) whilst Golcar Lib (3rd) travel to Thorpe Green (8th). Bottom of the table Milnsbridge B hope to get their first win when hosting mid-table Grange Moor.
Shepley sit comfortably at the top of the Division 7 table some 7 points ahead of Royds Park who have played a game less. Then there is a gap of a further 5 points back to Broad Oak B in 3rd place. The two leaders both have home games this week against other unbeaten teams. Shepley have Springwood A as visitors whilst Dalton travel to Royds Park.
