The two unbeaten records in Division 2 both survived another week although one was pushed to the limit before coming home unscathed. Paul's Kitchens have reacted to their relegation last season (2019) in the best possible fashion with an opening run of three straight wins this year. The latest coming at home against Pearce Displays last week when sharing the game score 4-4 but edging the aggregate 122-120 to keep that opening run going although that still only sees them in third place in the table. Above them sits Holmes Dresser with an identical three-match unbeaten start to the season with a slightly better aggregate score (419-411) to call upon to sort out the places. It is crunch time on Friday when the two teams face each other and put their unbeaten records on the line and it is unlikely to be just 8 points separating them after that encounter.

D Haigh & Co. continue to top the table courtesy of playing one more match than either of the two unbeaten teams and won again this week when beating Brook Hansen 'B'. Despite having lost a match the leaders cannot be overtaken any time soon as their 175 point lead cannot be surpassed this coming week even though it is their turn to sit out of the action with a bye week.

Sometimes you can have a better week when losing than others and that is certainly true of Brook Hansen 'B' this time around. Despite losing their match against the leaders they actually scored more points than Paul's Kitchen did when winning. Their 123 points keeps them in contention for a promotion place which will be determined by their next two matches, both away, at Paul's Kitchens and Pearce Displays.

That is similar to personalise HR who lost at home to Holmes Dresser but an aggregate score of 122 meant that the gap to teams above them didn't alter and it can only be a matter of time before they are celebrating a first win at this level. That could be this week when they travel to play the team just below them, Colne Valley Garden Centre, with just 20 points between them this could be a close affair.

Atkinson Butchers continue relentlessly on their way to preserving their Division 1 Champion claims with a fourth straight win this time a whitewash win (168-97) at Strait Kutz Hairdressers. That extends their lead at the top of the table to 110 points and it is going to take something very special to slow down that seemingly direct procession to another title. They have a week off this week when the other contenders can sort out between themselves which team is going to lead the challenge.

That responsibility appears to rest between two teams - Alicia Dawn Photography and Brook Hansen 'A' with Alicia Dawn getting back on the winning trail this week after two defeats when beating Bolster Moor Farm Shop 148-121. Brook Hansen 'A' had a bye week so their 3-match winning opening programme still remains intact and this week they have a great opportunity to rein in their nearest team when hosting the Huddersfield Recreation Club. The

Huddersfield Recreation Club scored their first win of the season and a season-best 154 points when beating PEG Perego this week but that doesn't tell the whole story. PEG Perego despite going down 1-7 on rubbers, also had a season-best total of 143 points accumulated in defeat and that tally included two 20's, two 19's and an 18.

The Division relegation battle could go a long way to being sorted on Tuesday night when the two teams above bottom-placed PEG Perego go head to head. Bolster Moor Farm Shop welcomes Strait Kutz Hairdressers to their Golcar C&BC green. With just 25 aggregate points between the teams the hosts will be looking to narrow, and possibly surpass that gap. PEG Perego will be hoping for a low-scoring meeting of those teams to enable them to stay in touch although their next matches look difficult although both are at home against Alicia Dawn Photography on Friday and unbeaten Brook Hansen 'A' the following Friday.
