Greenhead Park caused an upset in the Quarter-Finals of the Sub-Team KO yesterday when they eliminated Golcar Lib 'B' from the competition. Greenhead Park are a Section 5 team whilst Golcar Lib 'B' are in the top four of Section 3 and pushing for a promotion place but that counted for nothing in this Sub-Team KO tie. Although the Park side did have a 20-point aggregate advantage they didn't need any of those as they recorded a 25-point difference to take the tie.
Section 3 teams dominated the Quarter-Final draw with four teams and all were kept apart with the seemingly straight path to an all-Section 3 Semi-Finals setup. Greenhead Park saw off one of those four and Section 4 promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Recreation Club saw off another when disposing of Almondbury Lib by a 6-point margin so again not having to call on their 5-point handicap advantage.
It was more straightforward for the other two Section 3 teams as Lowerhouses and Springwood both had comfortable wins and now progress to meet each other in the Semi-Finals on Thursday 19 August with the neutral greens still to be announced.
