An AMBER weather warning has been issued for the day of this competition and the start time has been brought forward to 1.00pm to allow more drink breaks to take place. Bowlers should dress sensibly for the day, hats should be worn and sun cream applied and bring plenty of drinking water and/or soft drinks. Take care.
Reigning Over-80's KO Champion Frank Greenwood has progressed to Finals Day of the 2023 competition in search of a third consecutive title. He will be a strong favourite to complete the hat-trick on his home green after beating Hemplow bowler John Cocking 21-12 in last week's quarter-finals played at Thongsbridge.
In the semi-finals Frank will meet his long-time Inter-District teammate Eddie Haigh of Lockwood Con after he defeated Waterloo pairs bowler Alan Stephenson by 21-18. In the other half of the draw Trevor Sykes benefitted from Frank Griffin's no-show to go through to Finals Day where he will meet Skel Windmill stalwart Manuel Martinho who defeated Cowcliffe bowler Edwin Siswick 21-11 who has only played in this competition this season.
