Review of the results of matches played in Divisions 3,4 & 5 on Tuesday 25 April
Division 3 leaders Golcar Lib 'B' were found wanting when they went to play second-placed Almondbury Lib last Tuesday. Going down 3-6 to drop down to fourth place and despite winning the top of the table clash, Almondbury Lib also faltered and dropped a place to third position but retained their 100% win record in the process. Both teams were passed by Denby Dale and Brockholes 'A' who both won and continued their winning starts to the season. Denby Dale are the new leaders following their 9-0 hammering of Lockwood Con 'B' and they now hold a 3-point lead over Brockholes 'A' who collected a comfortable 7-2 home win over lowly Kirkheaton C&BC 'A'.
There were two 9-0 home winners this week in Division 3 with Paddock I&C being the other rampant side. They disposed of Meltham 'B' who have lost all three of their matches to date and they sit at the foot of the table. The Meltham 'B' side along with Outlane were promoted into Division 3 this season as the top two teams in Division 4 but both have struggled to settle at this level to date. Both are still looking for their first wins of the season with Outlane being beaten at home by the Hudderfield Recreation Club in a 7-2 scoreline.
Skel Windmill 'A' saw off visitors Slaithwaite with a 5-4 victory courtesy of a 124-122 aggregate advantage and they both overtake Lockwood Con 'B' to go 5th and 6th.
All five Division 4 matches were won by the home teams which included the Rugby Club disposing of leaders Springwood 7-2 who stay top but are joined on 18 points by their conquerers and they enjoy a three point lead over third-placed Kirkheaton Con 'B' who clocked up a 7-2 home win over Primrose Hill Lib. Lindley BC 'B' won for the first time this season when recording a 6-3 home win over Ravensknowle Park who are the only Division 4 team still looking for a first win of the season.
Home wins for Thongsbridge 'B' (over Lindley Lib 'B' 6-3) and Marsh United 'B' winning the Marsh derby match and seeing off Marsh Lib 5-4 but stay bottom despite that great result.
The Division 5 leaders Milnsbridge 'B' were without a match this week and slipped to fifth place with Brockholes 'B' and Broad Oak 'B' settling in to the top two slots after both extended their winning starts to the season to three matches. Brockholes 'B' leapfrogged Broad Oak 'B' after winning 7-2 away at Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' whilst Broad Oak needed the better aggregate total (132-121) to edge it past David Brown Sports 5-4.
New Mill 'B' had started the season suffering two 0-9 reversals and things were looking bleak but come week 3 they go to fancied Dalton and win 8-1, incredible! Home wins for Greenhead Park (8-1 v Netherton Con 'B') and for Hemplow 'B' (7-2 v Holmfirth 'B') completed the programme of fixtures for last Tuesday.
