New Mill won the BCGBA Ladies Club Championship for a record-equalling fourth time at Bridgewater Bowling Club in Shropshire on Sunday. Prior to overwhelming the King George V team (Birmingham) 115-68 in the final they had played and eliminated three previous title-winning teams including Wrockwardine Wood (Shropshire) who won the title the last twice that the competition had been held (2019 & 2018).
New Mill equalled the record of four titles held by the Shropshire representative team from Wrockwardine Wood and also overcame previous winners from St Oswalds and Wharton Cons to lift the title and in so doing also collected a second 2022 national title for Yorkshire after the Pudsey team won the World Club Championship the previous weekend. The New Mill team also collected the trophy for three consecutive years from 2014 to 2016.
Winter League bowlers may recognise the four Division 1 New Miller bowlers in the New Mill team photo below so especially well done to them.
