Crosland Moor bowler Richard Chomiak is the new holder of the 2022 Jack Burgin Trophy awarded to the winner of the competition for bowlers that have never won an open competition before. Richard is the third Crosland Moor bowler to win a major local title this season following on the success of Mark Atkinson and Tony Brook.
Richard beat Lindley BC bowler Fin Turton (Bill Blackburn's grandson) 21-17 after a hot day of fast green bowling at Lockwood Con. Interestingly it is just five years since Fin's brother, George, also lost in the final of this competition but went on to become the youngest winner of the Huddersfield Merit the following year. Maybe history will repeat itself.
