Review of the Divisions 3, 4 & 5 results from Tuesday 6 June
Twelve of the sixteen matches played in Divisions 3, 4 and 5 this week went the way of the home teams. One away winner was Paddock who beat the Division 3 leaders Almondbury Lib who lose top spot as a result and Milnsbridge become the last team to lose their unbeaten record when going down at Greenhead Park. All the scores and stories.
The top four teams in Division 3 playing each other produced a big turn-around in fortunes with Golcar Lib 'B' moving up two places to take over at the top. They beat Denby Dale 7-2 who drop out of the top four as a result. That all came about after third-placed Paddock I&C won 6-3 at the home of the leaders Almondbury Lib who drop two places to third but Paddock climb only one place to take the second promotion place.
Brockholes 'A' reclaimed a top four spot after beating Skel Windmill 6-3. A 115-113 aggregate advantage enabled Huddersfield Recreation Club to move out of the relegation places with a 5-4 home win over Meltham 'B'.
Kirkheaton C&BC 'A's 6-3 home win over Lockwood Con 'B' ensured that the Cricket Club remained out of the relegation places and left the Lockwood outfit once again in the drop zone but well within reach of safety. Outlane beat Slaithwaite 6-3 to reverse places but both remain firmly entrenched in mid-table.
Lindley Lib 'B' remain clear of Springwood at the top of the Division 4 table after beating bottom of the table Primrose Hill Lib 6-3 but Springwood narrowed that gap to 2 points after their 7-2 home win over Marsh Lib and they have played a match less than the leaders. Marsh United 'B's winning run was extended to four matches after an 8-1 away win at Ravensknowle Park and means that they feature very prominently in the promotion race.
Lindley BC 'B' had a second successive 8-1 home win with this time Thongsbridge 'B' being on the wrong end of that scoreline. They drop a place to 4th as a result and are now 10-points behind the leader. The Rugby Club had a good 7-2 home win over Almondbury BC 'B' and move up two places to 5th as a result whilst the losers drop one place to 7th position.
Milnsbridge 'B' lost for the first time in Division 5 this season and are the last 10-man team to lose their unbeaten record when going down 3-6 at Greenhead Park but are still 3-points clear of Brockholes 'B' who have played a match more. Brockholes did have a 6-3 away win at Broad Oak 'B' which was a fourth successive loss for Broad Oak and there were big 8-1 home wins for New Mill 'B' and Netherton Con 'B'.
The win for the New Mill side put them level on points with the team they beat, Holmfirth 'B', but with the teams still occupying the bottom two places that should make things interesting for both teams as the season progresses. Dalton are on a good winning run which they stretched to 5 matches this week when beating Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' 6-3 but with an away fixture at leaders Milnsbridge 'B' next week they may struggle to extend that sequence any further.
