Mid-table foursome in limbo

Winter League

A preview of the Division 3 and 4 fixture programmes to be played on Monday 5 December

The eight teams in Division 3 are drifting towards three different groupings with a mid-table foursome isolated from issues at the top and bottom of the division. Only 2 points separate the four teams but they are 8 points off the top two and 12 points ahead of the bottom two and the relegation battle that just isn't happening at present. It remains to be seen if any of the four move up or down this week.

Two of that mid-table quartet take on the top two this Monday as Rastrick 'B' take on the faltering leaders Brockholes 'A' who have lost their last two matches, both against other members of that quartet. Then 2nd placed Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' have to face the in-form Paddock I&C 'A' who have won their last two matches by the same 8-0 scoreline.

Dalton and Thorpe Green complete the mid-table programme by playing each other whilst the bottom two meet up as Springwood 'B' and Almondbury BC 'A' face each other level on points but 12 points adrift of safety at present and both have lost their last two fixtures.

Big game in Division 4 this Monday as the top two play each other and with just one point between them, the incentives couldn't be grander. Milnsbridge hit top spot for the first time last week having won their last 5 matches so they really are the form team. Their opponents are 2nd placed Lindley Lib 'B' who lost the top of the table position last week after not winning for the third consecutive Monday. Add to the equation the fact that this week sees a reversal of the opening day fixtures when Lindley Lib 'B' beat Milnsbridge 'B' 6-2 to throw all known factors into the melting pot to confuse the issue even further.

Third-placed Kirkheaton C&BC are poised to strike on the back of any result between the top two teams when they take on Paddock I&C 'B' who haven't won any of their last three fixtures. Lowerhouses 'B' remain in contention and meet bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' this Monday whilst Marsh Lib will be looking to repeat their 8-0 winning season-opener against Netherton Con 'A'.
