Meltham could confirm the long-held expectation of them lifting the Division 2 title this week if results go their way. They play Jackson Bridge knowing that a big win could set the seal on a massive season of winning results. A repeat of the 8-0 win last November would see them requiring 4 points from their last two fixtures assuming that their only challengers, Lindley Lib, win all of their last three matches 8-0. They could start doing that this Wednesday if they repeat their whitewash November win over Huddersfield Recreation Club but it is a big ask now with their destiny out of their own hands. Nothing less than a win for Lindley Lib can be expected to extend the top of the table uncertainty for at least another week.
Springwood 'A' are in third place and 13 points behind Lindley Lib with a game in hand and with the last match of the season between the two teams a shock shoot up the table is still possible. There is no hiding the fact that last week's loss to Jackson Bridge was a major setback to their ambitions and they need to get quickly back on track if those promotion hopes are to be raised once again. With bottom of the table Paddock I&C as their opponents nothing less than a whitewash result will serve that intent this week.
Almondbury BC won for the first time in their last 7 matches last week and will look to build on that in their mid-table battle with Thorpe Green 'B' this Wednesday who will be aiming to reverse a 2-6 defeat against the same opponents from earlier in the season.
