A preview of the Division 3 matches to be played on Monday 7 January 2022

The Match of the Division 3 Season is coming up this Monday at Thorpe Green. Two matches to go to the end of the season and two teams locked together at the top of the table and they meet this week in a real title decider. Thorpe Green 'C' and Lindley BC 'B' are on the same total of 80 points. When that happens the deciding factor is the team with the most 'Aggregate Points For' will rise to the top. There is just one point separating the two teams with the host team holding sway with a 803-802 advantage at present. It isn't beyond reason that we could be looking to the third criteria to separate the teams which is the team with the greater aggregate difference shall prevail.

It also means the two teams could draw 4-4 this week but there still be a swap in league placings. In fact just about anything can happen and it may still go to the final day of the season before the result is known but it is clear that this is a really key confrontation with everything to play for. The final day matches pitch the two main protagonists against bottom half opposition with Thorpe Green scheduled to play Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' and the Lindley team meeting Lowerhouses 'B'. The return fixtures have already produced big wins for both contenders so placing even more emphasis on the importance of this Monday's match.

That isn't the only match of interest being played this week with the teams currently fourth and fifth also engaged in a position determining outcome as well as Dalton defend their four-point advantage over Brockholes. A win for Dalton will elevate them into third place above Rastrick 'B' who have the day off and set up nicely the final day of the season meeting between the two teams.

Bottom of the table Springwood 'B' play their final match of the season and the last chance to rise above their current position as they take on the team directly above them, Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B', with just 6 points between the two teams. That leaves the 'B' teams from Milnsbridge and Lowerhouses to complete this week's line-up with Lowerhouses out to avenge a 2-6 December defeat against the same opponents.
