Review of the 6-Man League matches played on Monday 5 September

The meeting of the top two teams in Division 2 saw Skel Windmill 'A' beat the leaders Marsh United 'A' 5-2 to move closer but those 2 points were sufficient for the to confirm the Marsh side's promotion and they need just 6 points from their final 3 matches to add the title to that achievement. Next week's clash between 3rd placed Holmfirth 'A' at home to 2nd placed Skel Windmill 'A' could set up an interesting finale to the season.

Slaithwaite only managed to field 4 bowlers for the 4th successive match but this time they managed to still win with a 79-74 aggregate score helping them to a 5-2 win over bottom-of-the-table Skel B.

Next Monday the Skel side meet one of the three teams above them, Lindley Lib 'B', that they could still overtake but anything less than a win could seal their fate.

Whoever is the other prime relegation candidate has still to be determined with Meltham and New Mill looking the most likely pairing to thrash out that matter when they meet in 2 weeks time. Both had 1-6 defeats this week to keep the matter in abeyance for a little longer.

The top three teams in Division 1 all won again this week to retain the same running order as Shepley remain 4 points clear at the top. All three teams were playing at home and all registered expected results with third-placed Golcar C&BC getting a 7-0 whitewash win over Lockwood Con to move one-point nearer to the two teams above them in the table.

Netherton Con's occasional flirtation with a top three position now appears to be over for this year after going down 1-6 at Crosland Moor. That surely leaves them too far behind although 2 of their remaining 3 fixtures are against top three teams so winning both those could stir up interest again.

Linthwaite Hall are already relegated but the second team to go down is still to be finalised. Lindley Lib 'A' and Lockwood Con both remain in danger and the final day meeting of the two teams could come too late for Lindley Lib if they haven't pegged the gap before then.

A whitewash 7-0 home win for Golcar Lib over Thongsbridge 'A' enabled them to retain their 7-point lead at the top of Division 3. The Golcar Lib side needs just 5 points from their final 3 fixtures to secure promotion. Almondbury Lib recorded the same whitewash scoreline to stay 7 points behind the leaders and 10 points ahead of the two hopefuls of Hemplow and Marsh Lib. A good 6-1 home win for Greenhead Park over Primrose Hill Lib sees them steer clear of the bottom three and end a run of three straight defeats and promises of better times ahead for this team comprised of a number of new bowlers.
