Veterans 6-Man League

A series of three results has resulted in a congested leaderboard in Section B with one point between the top 3 teams. Leaders Marsh United hang on to the lead despite losing for the first time this season going down 2-5 at Skel Windmill 'A' who were winning for the first time this year. That slipup allowed the following pack of three to close in on them as new boys Honley Con claimed one of two whitewash wins this week when beating Clayton West to go level on points with the pacesetters. That win included the top Singles score of the day with Chris Brook recording a 21-2 winning score. The top Pairs score of the day (21-2) from Keith Wood & Richard Knight helped Golcar Lib condemn Primrose Hill Lib to a second consecutive 1-6 defeat and enabled the home team to move into the slipstream of the two leaders. Quietly moving in behind that trio is Golcar C&BC who have a game in hand on the top 3 and are just 3 points off the top so are a serious contender. Their latest success being a 6-1 win over Skel Windmill 'B' which could have been another whitewash but for a 20-21 win for the visitor's pairs. That result meaning that all four games in Section B went to the home teams this week.

Lindley Lib were back on their own green for the first time this year and celebrated with their first win in Section A when beating Crosland Moor. This being the closest scoreline of the day with an aggregate draw of 84-84 and the games advantage going to the home side and a 4-3 match outcome but they remain at the foot of the table. That result coupled with the Shepley 'A' 6-1 home win over Oakfield enabled the Shepley side to extend their lead to 3 points at the top. Netherton Con and Brockholes 'A' also kept themselves well in the mix with good home wins. The Netherton team beating Milnsbridge when again only one point prevented a whitewash winner. In a tight game at Brockholes the home team's 'A' side beat Thongsbridge 'B' to swap places with them but it took an 85-83 aggregate win to clinch it. Two teams seeking their first wins of the new season met at Paddock I&C where Lockwood came away the most satisfied and with a 5-2 victory to leapfrog their opponents and out of the bottom three.

The second 7-0 win of the week came from Slaithwaite in Section C when beating Marsh Lib who were slipping to a third consecutive defeat. That win places Slawit into second place, 2 points behind the leader with a game in hand. Holmfirth 'B' retaining top place after a 6-1 home win over Shepley 'B' and extending their unbeaten record at the same time. Brockholes 'B' completed a club double on the day over Thongsbridge when winning 5-2 away from home to equal their 'A' sides scoreline at home to the same club.

The Almondbury Lib v Holmfirth result was not available at posting time.
