Veterans League Review of the Veterans 6-Man League matches played on Monday 21 August

Marsh United 'A' thoroughly enjoyed their Monday this week for as well as beating their main Division 1 title rivals, Skel Windmill 'A' on their own green by 5-2 they also saw their nearest three challengers all lose their fixtures this week. A 5-2 away win set up the enjoyable day for the leaders and then they sat back and watched the other results appear. Third-placed Golcar C&BC crashed 0-7 at Thongsbridge 'A', Shepley 'A' surprisingly lost 2-5 at bottom of the table Elland C&BC and Brockholes 'A' lost 3-4 at home to Lockwood Con.
The fixture between the two relegation threatened teams in Longwood and Crosland Moor saw the Moor come out on top 5-2 to give themselves a 6-points lead over their rivals with 5 matches left to play.
The top two teams in Division 2 both had whitewash 7-0 wins to maintain the status quo of an 11-points lead for Slaithwaite, winners at Almondbury Lib, and Lindley Lib 'A', victors over bottom team Skel Windmill 'B'. Clayton West won the southern derby 6-1 over neighbours Denby Dale who are now seriously adrift in the second relegation place.
Linthwaite Hall's terrible home form continues to threaten their continuing involvement in Division 2 as they made it 8 losses in 9 home matches this time 1-6 against Golcar Lib. Away defeats for Lindley Lib 'B' and Paddock I&C practically ends either team's promotion prospects.
Things are getting very interesting at the top of the Division 3 table after leaders Marsh Lib had a good 6-1 away win at 4th-placed Marsh United 'B'. They now have a 6-points lead over New Mill who won 7-0 at home over Brockholes 'B' but the Millers have a game in hand over the leaders and they play each other in 2 weeks time. Greenhead Park continue to stay in the promotion picture after a 5-2 away win at Primrose Hill Lib to make it six wins on the bounce.
Holmfirth 'B' had a good 6-1 away win over Meltham to move within 3 points of their opponents whilst this week's results saw the two Thongsbridge teams locked together on 63 points after the 'B' team went down 1-6 at Hemplow and the 'C' team took advantage after a 5-2 away win at Shepley 'B'.
