Longwood & Lockwood in Team KO Final

Updated: Sep 8, 2021

Longwood and Lockwood Con 'A' will contest the 2021 Team KO Final after both won their Semi-Final ties this week. Both teams beat Section 2 opponents with Longwood beating Kirkheaton Con 'A' and Lockwood Con 'A' eliminating Broad Oak 'A'.

Longwood (+5) 131 - 125 Kirkheaton Con 'A' (+10) at Slaithwaite BC

With the final Singles game on the green at 18-across the tie was delicately balanced as either side could still progress to the Final. Longwood were 3 points ahead so Kirkheaton needed to win that game 21-18 to draw level overall at 128-128 and would then have progressed with the game count 4-3 in their favour but it was not to be. That match went 21-18 to Longwood and an overall aggregate winning total of 131-125 saw them through to the Final and condemn Kirkheaton Con to a second KO semi-final defeat in 7 days.

Lockwood Con 'A' (scratch) 125-111 Broad Oak 'A' (+10) at Outlane BC

The game count was closer than the aggregate score with Broad Oak going down 3-4 with commendably 2 of those being Singles games. So the competition holders progress to defend their title at Lindley BC on Thursday 16 September.

The Team KO involves the top 32 teams based on league positions at the end of the previous season with the format the same as for League matches of 3-Pairs and 4-Singles. There is a handicapping system based on that previous League standing with matches decided on aggregate scores and in the event of a drawn match then the game count decides the outcome.
