Lockwood v Longwood back on the 6-man agenda

Veterans League

Match of the day in Division 1 is the meeting of two old adversaries with Lockwood Con entertaining Longwood. Between them they dominated the 6-Man League from 2013-2017 with Longwood winning 3 of those year's titles and Lockwood Con the other two. Currently they sit 2nd and 3rd after one week of the 2022 fixture programme and the teams on either side of them Netherton Con (1st) and Honley Con (4th) go head-to-head as well.

At the opposite end, the two teams currently at the foot of the table also meet with Lindley Lib 'A' having home advantage over the newcomers from Linthwaite Hall and both looking for a first win of the season as are Champions Shepley 'A' and Milnsbridge BC who meet each other this Monday afternoon.

Two teams that won their opening Division 2 fixtures last week meet up this week when 3rd placed Marsh United 'A' have home advantage over second placed Clayton West. The early leaders in this division are last Year's Division 3 Champions Slaithwaite and they began this season impressively when beating Meltham 7-2 last week. This Monday they go to Skel Windmill to take on the 'A' team who will be keen to overcome an opening day defeat. Lindley Lib 'B' and Holmfirth 'A' sat out last week's opening day programme but they are both in action this week. Both take on teams that lost their matches last week as Lindley Lib 'B' travel to Meltham and Holmfirth 'A' have a home match against New Mill.

Thongsbridge 'A' started their Division 3 campaign brightly with a whitewash victory away at Brockholes 'B' and this week they welcome last year's wooden spoonists Shepley 'B' so will expect to maintain top position after this latest round of matches. Almondbury Lib and Golcar Lib may have something to say about that when they meet up to defend their winning starts to the season.

Hemplow will be keen to open their account when they start their delayed start to the season when hosting Marsh United 'B' to the bowling outpost on Monday. One of Primrose Hill Lib or Brockholes 'B' will open their winning account this week as they meet up and Holmfirth 'B' will be keen to make it a two-match winning opening to the season when go to Greenhead Park for this week's fixture.
