After having to play their 'Avoid Relegation' card last season to stay in Division 8 on their own green, Lockwood Con C seem determined not to have to rely on the same opt-out route again this year. They have started the season in impressive style with two good wins with the latest being 6-2 over Meltham B. It has not been a good start for the Meltham B team after dropping out of Division 7 last season, their first in the League, and only Gocar C&BC's 20-points penalty is keeping them out of the relegation places at present.

Linthwaite Hall B are also in the relegation mix with just 2 points from 2 matches to date with the latest being a 0-8 whitewash outcome. That was against Hemplow A who go third as a result of this first win of the season. Broad Oak B sit in 2nd spot after two wins which is their best ever start to a season in the League, the latest being a 6-2 win over Mirfield B.

If Golcar C&BC were not servicing their 20-points penalty they would be on the same points total as the leaders but as it is they can expect to move out of the bottom spot next week. An 8-0 win over Cowcliffe C this week pushing them right behind the strugglers who can expect to be overtaken next week at this rate.

Two very different experiences for the two Kirkheaton C&BC teams in Division 9 as the C team sit at the top of the table following their 8-0 win over Mirfield C whilst the club's B team suffered an 8-0 defeat against the Kirkheaton Con C team and are bottom of the table. The clash of the two teams in the slipstream of the leaders, Marsh Lib B and Greenhead Park, ended with their undefeated records intact following a 4-4 draw.

A first win for Almondbury BC C over Brockholes C by 6-2 was well greeted by the new boys as teams settle into the weekly routine. As do the hosts who make some adjustments to their catering menu which were well received. We mustn't forget that this is a new experience for the host club as well and your feedback to them on what is working and what isn't, is always welcome as they strive to meet all demands.

Most of the bowlers playing in the Division 9 matches on Tuesday had left the area before the heavens opened and it poured down on the two last teams in action - Almondbury BC C and Brockholes C. Robert Tracey has provided some action shots from the last action of the day for the benefit of all those long gone.
