Team KO Final
Lockwood Con retained the Team Knock-Out at Lindley B.C. after beating Longwood in the Final yesterday by 132-119. It was a tense affair with Longwood holding a 2-point lead (59-57) after the three pairs matches had been completed and Longwood winning two of them. Adding on the 5-point handicap advantage to Longwood gave them a 64-57 lead at the break.
It was clear that the green was proving to be a real challenge to the bowlers from both sides as many struggled to find the correct paths and distances. The green was in excellent condition, I haven't seen one with more grass on it for some weeks now and the bright sunshine added to the speed of the green. The photos below show how far away from the jack some woods ended up and that was a repetitive feature of most of the games. It was proving to be a real challenge to the bowlers and that continued in the second half as the four singles games got underway.
Here Lockwood Con excelled as they so often do and they clocked up 3 winners to add a 75-55 aggregate score so eradicating the Longwood lead and ending with a 13-point winning margin for the holders. Lots of photos of the day below including the presentation of the Frank Griffin Cup to Dougie Mellor as the non-playing captain of the winning team by the Veterans League President Alan Sharpe.
