Winter League A preview of the Division 3 & 4 fixtures for Monday 23 January
This Monday is the final day of the season for the Division 3 teams with leaders Brockholes 'A' needing 2 points from their match against Thorpe Green 'B' to add the title to their already-gained promotion. Going up with them are Huddersfield Recreation Club who are also already promoted and need an 8-0 win over Dalton and a Brockholes collapse to add the title as well.
Matters at the other end of the table are already resolved with Springwood 'B' and Almondbury BC 'A' both going down to Division 4 where they could meet up next season with their 'B' team as they currently head the Division 5 table.
It is hoped to present the Division 3 trophy, the Founders Shield, to the title winners at the end of the match.
It is also hoped to present the Treasurer's Trophy to the Top Bowler. The table below shows how tight this is at present with Brockholes having 4 bowlers in the top 10 and David Walls currently leading the way and a win will secure him the 2023 title.
The teams in Division 4 still have two fixtures to play with the penultimate round of fixtures taking place at Lindley Lib on Monday. Anything less than an 8-0 win over Marsh Lib would surely see Lowerhouses 'A' drop out of the promotion race as they are currently 6 points behind the second promotion place occupied by Lindley Lib 'B'.
The 'B' teams from Milnsbridge and Lindley Lib occupy the top two positions and remain firm favourites to retain the two promotion places after this round of fixtures. The title remains a little more wide open with just 3 points between the two prime contenders and they both play bottom half teams this week.
The Division 4 Top Bowler competition is between the current top three in the table below. The positions are based on Number of Wins and where that is level then it comes down to the individual Averages. The scores are Singles and Pairs scores combined.
