Last 8 in the Team Knock-Out

Veterans League

Following last Friday's Round of 16 ties we now know the eight quarter-finalists in this year's Team KO competition. That octet includes Longwood who are aiming for a hat-trick of titles after beating their Last 16 opponents Lindley Lib B by 142-100. Having already disposed of the Division 1 leaders, Lowerhouses, in an earlier round, just as they did last year, they are firm favourites to add the treble which has only been achieved once before in the 52 year history of the competition. That milestone achievement was first reached by Lindley Lib A in a run of four consecutive titles from 1999 to 2002.

The Lindley Lib A side can halt that record-equaling attempt as they are Longwood's quarter-final opponents after a comfortable passage when beating Milnsbridge A 145-122. Golcar Lib A avenged a 1-8 Division 1 home defeat by Kirkheaton Con A three days earlier by eliminating their rivals by a tight 132-130 scoreline. That wasn't the closest call of the round as the Division 3 title chasers, Golcar Lib B, squeezed past Division 1 strugglers Clayton West by 138-137. Springwood also sprang a shock win when not needing the nine handicap advantage to eliminate Almondbury Lib 166-127.

Regulation wins for Broad Oak A (over Lindley BC A by 146-130) and Brockholes A (over Slaithwaite by 163-147) and a bye for Meltham A completes the Last 16 round-up shown in full below along with the Friday 22 May quarter-final line-up including the neutral greens.
