Last 100% win record blown away

League News

Denby Dale proudly owned the final unbeaten record in the League but that 8-game run was halted this week with a shock result at Almondbury BC 'B'. The Section 4 leaders went down 2-7 away at their foot of the table opponents who moved up a place as a result. Despite that lengthy run the Denby lead is only 9 points ahead of Lindley BC 'B' who have a game in hand so suddenly things become more interesting. The Lindley team extended their unbeaten home record with a 7-2 win over Elland C&BC 'B' to stay in contention and are scheduled to meet with Denby Dale twice in July. Thongsbridge 'B' were in the promotion mix but dropped to third after a 2-7 reversal at Milnsbridge 'B'.

Bit of a novelty in Section 1 this week with the leaders holding on to top spot which hasn't happened for the last 6 weeks but that may be a short-lived experience. Elland C&BC 'A' may only be in fourth position but with a game in hand, they play which on Friday, and just 5 points behind Lockwood Con 'A' at the top things could be on the move again. Lockwood Con held on to top spot after a good 3-6 away win at Golcar Lib 'A' who remain in the top 7 in the table all within 8 points of the top position. Waterloo gate-crashed that elite grouping with a 7-2 home win over lowly Netherton Con 'A' and Clayton West had the biggest Section 1 win of the day with an 8-1 home win over 8-man Crosland Moor. Rastrick were also 2 men short and suffered the consequences of that by going down 4-5 (aggregate 108-112) at Thongsbridge 'A' who clocked up their second win of the season.

Section 2 leaders Kirkheaton Con 'A' recorded their third whitewash win of the season with a 9-0 demolition of visitors Brockholes 'A' and extended their lead to 9 points. Lindley BC 'A' lost ground but stay second after losing 4-5 away at Lockwood Con 'B' and Thorpe Green got back to winning ways with a 7-2 home win over New Mill 'A' and it was almost more emphatic with losing the two points from two 20-21 results. Broad Oak move up a place to third after an 8-1 home win over Bradley & Colne who drop a couple of places to sixth whilst Almondbury BC 'A' had the day's solitary away win 6-3 at Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' to move into fifth. Two of the bottom four teams had wins this week as Hemplow and Lockwood Con 'B' tasted victories to leave Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' and Paddock I&C in the relegation places although that can quickly change with only 6 points between them.

The top four in Section 3 all won this week to retain the same positions whilst Meltham 'B' moved off the foot of the table after a second away win of the season this time at Skel Windmill which left Outlane in bottom place following their 1-8 reversal at Springwood. At the top leaders Holmfirth 'A' beat Almondbury Lib 6-3, second-placed Lowerhouses had a 7-2 home success over Marsh United 'B', Slaithwaite won 6-3 at Lindley Lib 'B' and Golcar Lib 'B' beat Brockholes 'B' by 7-2.

Marsh Lib take over the lead in Section 5 after an 8-1 home win over Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' aided by New Mill 'B' taking 4 points off previous leaders Huddersfield RUBC who are now a point off the pace. A good day for bottom team David Brown Sports who clocked up a second win of the season when beating Broad Oak 'B' 6-3 and the four teams immediately above them all losing.
