Veterans League
The first individual competitions of the new 2023 Veterans League season are now open for entry with early April closing dates looming for both the Over-70's KO and the Lower Divisions Trophy. In fact the first closing date for one of the competitions is before the start date for the 10-Man League where many of the entries traditionally come from.
Those interested in playing in the Lower Divisions Trophy have until Monday 3 April to get your entries in. The Lower Divisions Trophy is open to any bowler who is not going to play in any 10-Man League Division 1 or Division 2 fixtures. So those bowlers that only play in the 6-Man League can all enter the KO competition. This one is specially included to give the lower level bowlers a KO competition just for them. In addition handicaps will be applied to level out the chances of bowlers playing at all levels.
New Competition Secretary, Steve Lee, is keen to concertina the rounds of many of the individual competitions so that interest is maintained throughout a shorter lapsed period of time during which all rounds and finals are completed.
That approach is exemplified with the Lower Division Trophy where the key dates are all within a 10 day period as shown below:
Closing Date for entries: Monday 3 April
Preliminary Rounds: Thursday 6 April
Finals Day: Thursday 13 April
Andrew Wike of Huddersfield Recreation Club is the title holder and he is eligible to defend his title this year. Entries are now open and can be completed online: Enter here
The Over-70s KO competition is also now open for entries with the key dates being:
Closing Date for entries: Monday 10 April
Preliminary Rounds: Friday 14 April Rounds down to 8: Thursday 20 April
Finals Day: Thursday 27 April
Entries are now open and can be completed online: Enter here
Entry fees for each of these competitions is £2.50 per bowler with an online payment facility.
