An AMBER weather warning has been issued for the day of this competition and the start time has been brought forward to 1.00pm to allow more drink breaks to take place. Bowlers should dress sensibly for the day, hats should be worn and sun cream applied and bring plenty of drinking water and/or soft drinks. Take care.
It is the Final of the Julie Fuller Trophy (JFT) on Friday at Golcar Lib. This is the 6-Man League's only team competition and has a 3-Pairs format with the aggregate score determining the winner. This year's finalists are Thongsbridge 'A' and Netherton Con and the route to the Final for each team is shown below along with every tie result.
Thongsbridge relied on the second level of identifying the winning team in their semi-final against Holmfirth 'A' when a 60-60 drawn aggregate scoreline failed to find a winner. With Thongsbridge winning the game count 2-1 that pushed them into Friday's Final. The handicapping will not be a factor on Finals Day as both teams start on +2. Both teams are in mid-table of the 6-Man League with just 3 points separating them in Thongsbridge's favour. When the teams met in League action earlier in the season at Netherton the visitors ran out 5-2 winners.
On the same day on the same green the Over-80's KO Final will also be played as is the tradition. The two semi-finals will be played first before all 3 pairs in the JFT take to the green to be followed later by the two Over-80's finalists.
