It is all happening at the top of Divisions 3&5

Review of the Divisions 3 & 5 fixtures played on Wednesday 3 December

None of the top three teams in Division 3 won their Wednesday matches this week but all three cling on to their top three positions, for now. The biggest surprise of those results was the defeat of leaders, Slaithwaite, by lowly Lindley BC B who were only winning for the second time this season and still remain in the relegation places.

That result means that Slaithwaite's lead at the top of the table has been cut to 4 points although their two prime challengers failed to win as well but have closed the gap on the leaders. Second-placed Lindley Lib B scraped a 4-4 lead with Thorpe Green C as did third-placed Denby Dale when drawing with Springwood A 4-4.

At the foot of the table, three teams are locked together on the same 20-point mark. The bottom two teams have to resort to the better Aggregate Difference to separate them with Springwood A edging it 78-65 to move out of the relegation places. That outcome sees Lockwood Con A drop to bottom place

The Mirfield derby match resulted in both teams honours coming out intact and both teams remaining locked together at the top of the Division 5 table on the same 34 points marker. Jackson Bridge closed the gap on the top two with an emphatic 8-0 victory over Thorpe Green B who remain bottom of the pile. It looks like a three-way battle for the two promotion places with just two points between them and plenty of more top table fixtures to be contested.

Paddock I&C moved off the foot of the table with a really important 6-2 win over a Dalton side that hovers just above the relegation places. Thorpe Green have taken over bottom place after losing to Jackson Bridge and things are very tight in the drop zone with just two points between the bottom three teams. Milnsbridge C inched themselves away from such worries after beating Kirkheaton C&BC A by 6-2 although it took a 51-50 aggregate scoreline to push them over the winning line.
