Inter-District season climax

Veterans League

This Friday (1 September) sees the final round of fixtures in the Veterans Inter-District competition with everything still to play for. It is mathematically possible for any one of the top five teams still to win the competition but it is likely to be one of the top three with Leeds the favourites.

Our representative team is very much in the mix and will need a win over Halifax to at least claim the runners-up position. The away leg will be played at Sowerby Tennis & B C., Green St. Peters Avenue. HX6 1HA and the team is Tony Butterfield, Malcolm Gilbert (c), Derek Hewitt, Peter Hopkinson, Dave Pollard, Tim Poulter, Garry Senior, Roger Stopford. Reserve: Edwin Haigh, Manager: A Sharpe.

The home leg will again be at Marsh United where the team is Alan Bamforth, John Bloomer, Mick Cox, Rob Dickinson, Eddie Haigh, Peter Kain, Graham Sigsworth, Ray Whitwam, Reserve: Barry Gibson. Non-Playing Captain Frank Greenwood.
