The BCGBA Jack & Jean Isherwood Veterans Championship will be played on Wednesday 20th July starting at 10am at Prees Cricket & Recreation Club, Brades Road, Prees, Whitchurch SY13 2DX.
Yorkshire will be represented by Longwood bowler Ian Briggs who qualified by winning the Yorkshire Qualification competition. Ian also bowls for Thorpe Green in the Winter League and will have to be up early on Wednesday morning to travel to Shropshire for a 10am start. It is a one-day knock-out finale with 32 qualifiers. The venue is the impressive Prees Bowling Club with its two greens and modern facilities.
Huddersfield bowlers have won this competition twice before. Roy Sutton of Meltham in 2002 and Frank Griffin of Waterloo in 2008 and we wish Ian all the best in his quest to add to that total. The added incentive being that the eventual winner will qualify for the prestigious BCGBA Champion of Champions competition at Heaton Park, Greater Manchester on 24 September.
