The latest round of Veterans Inter-District matches were played last Friday when the Huddersfield team playing at Lowerhouses edged the result against Halifax by 30-26. Both teams remain in the bottom half of all three tables below although they have played one less match than most of the teams above them in the table.

However, any hopes of returning to a title-winning campaign have been long gone with the West Riding team sweeping all challenges aside as they open a 44 points gap over the chasing pack and 68 points ahead of the Huddersfield team. The latest being a 38-18 win over their nearest rivals Bradford.

That just leaves the rest to contest for the runners-up spot. With the Huddersfield team playing the unbeaten West Riding team in the next round of fixtures and a last chance to move into the range of the other runners-up contenders. They will have to reproduce the outcome of the home match played last Friday when seeing off the Halifax team if they are to stand any chance of moving up the table.
