A review of the Thursday Division 7 results of matches played at the Rugby Club

Two of the four Division 7 matches played this week ended with teams sharing the points with 4-4 drawn results but that suited the surprise leaders, Holmfirth, who have already opened up a 4-point gap at the top. With their main challengers dropping points with drawn outcomes the Holmfirth team completed a 6-2 win over Huddersfield Recreation Club B. Adding this to their opening day whitewash win over Broad Oak A to retain the only 100% win record in this Division.
The Broad Oak team recovered from that early setback to be involved in the second 4-4 draw in this Division this Thursday when sharing the points with Lockwood Con B. The other match saw Kirkheaton Con B open their 2025-26 account with a 6-2 over New Mill C who are finding life at this level as hard as it was last season for them in Division 6. Marsh Lib A and Huddersfield RUFC shared the points when they met, and they remain in 2nd and 3rd positions but already 4 points behind the leader.
The road improvement(?!) work being undertaken at Lockwood crossroads has a carry forward impact on parking arrangements at the home of Huddersfield Recreation Club. Much of the plant machinary is stored overnight at Lockwood Park taking over much of the parking space. As the work may be continuing well in 2026 it is likely to be a continuing hindrance. One of the photos included below shows the extent of the problem.
