Review of the Monday results of matches played at Skel Central and Thorpe Green on Monday 2 November

DIVISION 10 REVIEW

Two weeks into the new season in Division 10 and it is good news for the two home teams as they hold the only two unbeaten records. Skel Central A ans B share top spot level on 12 points and also level on Aggregate For totals of 110. It took the Aggregate Difference totals (32-21) to separate them and leave them in alphabetical order in the table.

The A team deposed the previous table toppers, Holmfirth B, by beating them 6-2 whilst the club's B team also won 6-2 when meeting Almondbury BC C who now prop up the other seven teams. The first of several Brockholes derby matches this season saw the Badgers D team inflict a whitewash 8-0 win on the club's C team. The club's E team had a first win of the new campaign by beating Marsh Lib C 6-2.

Two things about the first of the 27 photos below.

  1. It is good to see Ann and Mags following the Almondbury BC teams wherever their three teams are playing (lifts permitting) in the Winter League.

  2. What a great idea it is to leave the benches for spectators to sit on instead of being used for bowling bags. The new bag storage options are a great addition to the facilities in the new covered area at Skel Central.

DIVISION 4 REVIEW

The Division 4 Winter League programme got off to a good start with the weather kind to the bowlers and the green looking very good and inviting to all. Although this was a first hosting day for Thorpe Green for three years they have hosted the Pairs KO competition over the last two years so are very familiar with what bowlers expect from a host club and so it seemed as both the host and the bowlers soon dropped into a good routine.

On the green it was Lindley Lib C and Milnsbridge that made the best start as both clocked up 8-0 whitewash wins over Springwood A and Linthwaite Hall respectively to head the initial table. It required a countback on the Aggregate Difference to separate them with the Lindley Lib team taking preference at this stage of the season.

The Mirfield CBC A team are not far behind them after beating Netherton Con A 6-2 and look menancingly in the rear view mirrors of the top two. The much-fancied Rastrick A team shared the points with Lindley BC B 4-4 and both will be satisfied with that as teams put a mark in the sand as to their future potential.
