Golcar Lib retain Team KO title

Veterans League

Golcar Lib 'A' completed the first half of a potential 2023 double when beating Cowcliffe 135-115 in yesterday's Team KO Final at Kirkheaton Cons. They only dropped one game of the seven and had overtaken the handicap advantage of their opponents by the halfway mark with 3 of their 4 singles bowlers triumphing.

Although a slender 4 points halfway lead (72-68) including the handicaps, was never going to be enough to confirm the destination of the 2023 title. However both teams came out for the second half replenished with the unhealthy but very welcome and soon devoured ginger nut biscuits, dripbread and jammy doughnuts to complete the task. The Golcar Lib pairs then came good to win all three games and run out comfortable winners.

The second half of a repeat double depends on lifting the Division 1 title again but with a 26 points lead and only four matches left to play I make it that another 11 points from those four fixtures will complete the double. It could even happen next week if results go their way. But for today they will be satisfied to have taken this trophy for a second successive season.
