A review of the Veterans 10-Man League Divisions 1 & 2 fixtures played on Tuesday 23 May

Clayton West suffered the backlash from Golcar Lib's defeat last week at Rastrick when going down to the table leaders by 8-1 this Tuesday. A hard-fought 21-20 win prevented a whitewash result as the Golcar side bounced back in title-winning style to recovering from a previous loss. Rastrick also won again and built on their good win when ending Meltham's unbeaten home record 6-3 but that still allowed Golcar Lib 'A' to open the gap at the top to 7 points.
A surprising but great 6-3 away win for Longwood at Marsh United 'A' took them out of relegation places and blunted the Marsh team's assault on the table toppers. It also extended the gap to top spot to 12 points from the previous 7 points although the Marsh boys do have a match in hand. Waterloo moved into 4th place after an 8-1 home win over bottom-of-the-table Milnsbridge 'A' leaving them 9 points adrift of safety.
Lowerhouses moved into the top half of the table after a comprehensive 7-2 home win over Kirkheaton Con 'A' and Lockwood Con 'A' lost their third consecutive home match when going down 4-5 to Cowcliffe.
The top six positions in Division 2 remain unchanged with the leaders winning the top two confrontation over Shepley 6-3 squeezing through with a 131-127 aggregate advantage. Third-placed Netherton Con 'A' were pushed all the way by a visiting New Mill 'A' side before prevailing 5-4 which left New Mill 'A' as the only Division 2 side to remain in the same position as they started the day. Lindley BC 'A' retained fourth-place after a 6-3 away win over Holmfirth 'A' who lifted themselves out of the relegation places albeit on a better 'Aggregate For' total. They condemned a 9-man Bradley & Colne to the relegation place after they lost 2-7 away at Hemplow 'A' who were winning for the first time this season and that outcome lifted them four places and demoted Linthwaite Hall to the bottom spot after they had a blank week.
Almondbury BC 'A' made it five 6-3 wins on the bounce with Thongsbridge 'A' the latest casualty of the revived fortunes of the Almondbury side. Thorpe Green sneaked through their home match with Broad Oak 'A' by a 5-4 scoreline and a 125-122 aggregate advantage.
