It was a good day for Elland C&BC 'A' in this week's extra Friday round of fixtures and they didn't even play! Their three main rivals for the Section 1 title all lost their away matches as Elland sat the week out with their match against Marsh United 'A' already rearranged for 2 July. Cowcliffe started the day level top with Elland but stumbled to a 2-7 defeat at Clayton West exactly the same scoreline Lockwood Con 'A' had lost to earlier in the week. A 104-105 aggregate reversal didn't help Lockwood Con 'A's cause away at Rastrick as they lost for the fourth consecutive league game this time by a 6-3 scoreline and they finish the day in third place. Ironically the two matches before this 4-match winless run saw Lockwood Con win 9-0 twice before the sudden and unexpected demise in form. Longwood failed to maintain their push for inclusion in the title dog-fight when losing at bottom-of-the-table Thongsbridge 'A' and they drop from fourth to seventh place as a result in this tight tussle at the top which sees the top six teams separated by six points.
A resounding 8-1 home win for Golcar Lib sent them to the top of the table, the fourth different table-topper this season. They saw off Crosland Moor thanks to two 21-4 wins in their emphatic 143-89 aggregate scoreline. Waterloo also sprang into contention after a 5-4 home win over Lindley Lib 'A' and Clayton West's intrusion into the title tussle by beating Lockwood Con and Cowcliffe in their last two games has promoted their hopes of being more actively involved in the outcome for themselves rather than a spoiler of other team's ambitions.
Kirkheaton Con 'A' consolidated their place at the top of the Section 2 table with a resounding 8-1 home win over New Mill 'A' and only dropped one point all game for the day's top aggregate score of 146. Thorpe Green surrendered their unbeaten record at Broad Oak 'A' where a 7-2 win for the home side sent them above their opponents and into third place, level on points but with a better aggregate advantage. Lindley BC 'A' went 2nd after a 7-2 away win at Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' and Almondbury BC 'A' also improved their standing with a 7-2 away win at Paddock I&C which sent their hosts to the foot of the table after Hemplow moved up a place courtesy of a 7-2 home win over Milnsbridge 'A'. Lockwood Con 'B' and Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' swapped places just above the relegation slots as the Con beat Shepley 7-2. After a slow start to the season which saw the Brockholes 'A' side lose all 3 of their first 3 matches they have gradually improved and had their best result of the season to date with an 8-1 home win over Bradley & Colne which was a 5th straight defeat for their visitors as they continue to drop down the table.
