Formbook prevails in the frost

Winter League

Review of the Division 5 fixtures played on Thursday 8 December

A hard overnight frost was well embedded in the Netherton Con green and despite the welcome sunshine it never reached most parts of the surface which rattled away all through the fixtures on Thursday.

This week's four Division 5 fixtures went pretty much the way of the formbook with Milnsbridge 'C' being the major benefactor of the day's results. Their 8-0 win over the Rugby Club was the biggest win of the day and enabled them to move above Almondbury BC 'B' and into second place but six points behind the leaders.

The Almondbury team were more than held by 4th placed Netherton Con 'B' in a second successive 4-4 draw which enabled them to stay ahead of their opponents. Thorpe Green 'C' remain six points clear at the top but Golcar C&BC were delighted to take two points off their local rivals. Their intent had been to better their opening day of the season result against the same opponents which they duly did.

The final fixture also went with the formbook as Springwood 'C' beat bottom-of-the-table Brockholes 'B' 6-2 which was the same scoreline as the opening day match between the two teams.
