Focus on Division 2 this week with leaders Kirkheaton Con 'A' fast out of the blocks with 4 straight wins which has given them an 8-point lead already and the only unbeaten record in the Division. This week they have a difficult-looking encounter lined up away at 5th placed Eccleshill who have a game in hand on all the teams above them. They may be 16 points behind the leaders but a big win this week could change all that. The four teams behind the Kirkheaton side all have home fixtures this week so things could become much tighter very suddenly. Of those four, Alverthorpe 'A' look to have the easier time when they take on bottom of the table The Harold Club 'A' who will have an eye on the Crossgates 'B' v Brighouse Sports match as the result could leave them well adrift and off the pace.
Thongsbridge 'A' will look on this week's Division 1 fixture programme as a great opportunity to firmly stake their claim to retain the title as they not only have a home tie against bottom of the table Ossett Flying Horse 'A' but will note that the three teams immediately behind them are all on the road this week. Pudsey 'A' are at 5th placed Denby Grange 'A', Lower Hopton 'A' are at Littlemoor 'A' and Crossgates 'A' go to Crosland Moor. Dearne Sports at Lower Hopton 'B' completes the list and both teams will come on the back of good wins last week.
It is much closer at the top of Division 3 where just 3 points separate the top 5 teams. Leaders Elland C&BC have a tough task at 4th placed Ossett who are just 3 points behind them with a game in hand. The leaders will do well to still be at the top after this round of games. Second-placed Littlemoor 'B' are well-positioned to take advantage of any slipups as they are at bottom-of-the-table Milnsbridge 'A' who are still looking for their first win of 2021. Rothwell and Horbury also find themselves in trouble near the foot and they meet to work out who will be taking the second relegation place at the end of proceedings.
Interesting encounter in Division 4 with 2 of the top 3 meeting when leaders Broad Oak 'A' travel to play 3rd-placed Thornhill C&BC whilst 2nd-placed Lowerhouses have the day off. Spen Victoria are the only team in the division without a win to date and they couldn't pick a better time to break that duck than this week. Currently bottom on 11 points and 6 points behind Denby Grange 'B' who are their visitors this week as any defeat would leave them seriously adrift of safety. Denby are in good heart after gaining their first win last week with a resounding 10-2 home win over Farsley who had been unbeaten up to that time.
Down into the 8-man divisions where Morton House continue to lead the way in Division 5 and remain unbeaten but certainly haven't shaken off their two prime opponents and this week have to go to Cowcliffe. Second-placed Alverthorpe 'B' also have a difficult looking fixture away to The Harold Club whilst third in the table Heckmondwike are unlikely to jeopardise their unbeaten run when bottom team Marsh United come to visit.
The Thongsbridge 'B' side match their 'A' teams top of the table current position albeit in Division 6 but it may not be theirs for very much longer. With 2 points between the top 4 teams and this Tuesday they have to go to second-placed Netherton Con with the 3rd and 4th placed sides having winnable home games this week. That is certainly the case for Golcar Lib who host a Milnsbridge 'B' side that still hasn't won a single point from their first 3 matches. There is no combination of results that could change those positions this week even though the two teams nearest to them in the table meet each other this week. Almondbury BC are 12 points ahead of the bottom side and one point behind Thorpe Green 'A' who they visit this week.
Shepley continue to set the pace in Section 7 despite suffering their first defeat of the season last week when surprisingly going down 3-7 at home to Springwood 'A'. The next two teams meet this week when unbeaten Royds Park who are just 2 points behind the leader with a game in hand have to go to 3rd-placed Springwood 'B'. The bottom two face each other when Dalton entertain bottom team Thorpe Green 'B' and with Cleckheaton Sports 'C' having a week off either of them could move out of the immediate danger zone.
