A preview of the 6-Man League fixtures for Monday 11 July
The top three teams in Division 1 are separated by just 2 points and all three have home fixtures this Monday. The toughest of those looks to have fallen to the leaders, Shepley, who have to face 4th placed Crosland Moor. Having beaten Shepley 4-3 on the opening day of the season the Crosland Moor team will be keen to reduce the 4-point gap to the top slot.
Golcar C&BC will be keen to avenge their heaviest defeat of the season (1-6) which was inflicted on them by Longwood on the opening day of the season when the two teams meet again this week. Although Longwood's fortunes have dipped since then and they are currently on a run of 4 defeats in their last 5 matches they will still present a formidable barrier.
Honley Con remain well placed in third and level on points with Golcar C&BC and welcome a Milnsbridge team that have lost all 5 of their away matches this season.
Brockholes 'A' has a good opportunity to break into the top four when hosting Thongsbridge 'B' who have already beaten them once this season. The Brockholes team are on a run of six straight wins so will be confident of claiming the bulk of the points on their own green.
Lindley Lib 'A' have lost their last 7 league matches which has seen them as residents in the relegation places for some while now. It isn't too late to avoid the drop but they need to start picking up points, particularly from home matches against mid-table teams and that includes this week's visitors from Netherton Con.
Match of the day in Division 2 features the teams in 3rd and 4th places as Skel Windmill 'A' take on Clayton West to see which of them can lead a challenge for the promotion places currently taken by Marsh United 'A' and Slaithwaite.
The reverse of the opening day fixtures will hold no fears for the top two as they look to revisit big wins. Leaders Marsh United 'A' started the season with a 6-1 away win at New Mill so a home fixture against the same opponents should hold few fears for them. Slaithwaite started the season with a 7-0 whitewash home win over Meltham who have won their last 3 fixtures but remain within the range of the bottom three teams all fighting to retain their own Division 2 existence.
Skel Windmill 'B' will do well to pick up many points at Paddock I&C as they have lost all their four away matches to date and have only picked up two points in doing so and this is an area they must improve on if any hopes of avoiding relegation are to become reality.
The top two teams in Division 3 take on bottom three opponents this week so we are unlikely to see much change in the running order as a result. Leaders Golcar Lib will be looking for a second consecutive whitewash scoreline with home advantage over Shepley 'B'. Almondbury Lib will not expect to close the 4-point gap to the top when they go to Greenhead Park but they won't expect it to grow at all either.
Marsh Lib are just a point away from a promotion spot but will do well to keep that gap tight when they travel to Primrose Hill Lib this Monday. The Pip Hill team have only had one win in their last six matches so some hope for the Marsh Lib side as they attempt to recover from their whitewash derby defeat at Marsh United 'B' last week.
Only the table leaders have won more points away from home than Thongsbridge 'A' but they still languish in the bottom half due to their poor home form. Only one win in four to date but a chance to address that imbalance when hosting bottom-of-the-table Brockholes 'B' this Monday.
