Preview of the fixtures to be played in Divisions 8 & 9 on Tuesday 4 November

Last season Broad Oak B and Lockwood Con C finished in the bottom three places in Division 8. Only Lockwood Con C's successfull appeal to avoid relegation as a host club saved them from dropping down a level. This season, it is a totally different story with the two teams sitting in the top three. Both teams have matches this week that the 2025 versions of themselves will expect to win. Broad Oak B meeting Cowcliffe C who have lost their last two matches and Lockwood Con C meet a Linthwaite Hall B team still looking for a first win this season.

Hemplow are the nearest challengers to the leaders sitting two points behind them and four points ahead of third-placed Lockwood Con C. That group of three are moving ahead of the other five teams with a six-points gap already appearing. This Tuesday, Hemplow will be looking to retain that gap as they take on 4th-placed Mirfield B who finished third last season and were hoping to make that step up this time around.

Golcar C&BC are still working on winning back the 20 penalty points they were given as a result of them declining promotion last season. They remain 14 points adrift of safety and will expect to reduce that margin when playing a Meltham B team that is still looking for its first win of the season.

Paddock I&C as the latest host club, is building a good reputation among the Division 9 teams for their hospitality. Things on the green are settling down as Kirkheaton C&BC C have won all three of their matches to lead the way and this Tuesday they have to take on 2nd-placed Greenhead Park. This will be a good test for both teams with 3rd-placed Kirkheaton Con C hovering to take advantage of any movement in the promotion places as they meet bottom-of-the-table Brockholes C.

The third Kirkheaton team in this division is Kirkheaton C&BC B and they will be looking to build on their first win they won last week, when they take on Marsh Lib B this Tuesday. Two teams in the bottom half of the table meet when Almondbury BC C confront Mirfield C.
