Review of the Divisions 6 & 7 matches played on Thursday 4 December

Cowcliffe B continue to set a hot pace at the top of the Division 6 table with a 6th consecutive win and remain one of only two teams in the Winter League with a 100% win record. The latest opponents on the wrong end of a 6-2 scoreline were Springwood B and that means that they remain in the relegation places. Along with them sit the host team of Netherton Con B who did clock up a very encouraging 4-4 draw with Springwood C who of course remain in their adopted third place in the table.
Brockholes B retain the 2nd promotion place after beating Outlane A 6-2 and that means that 5 of their 6 fixtures have finished with a 6-2 winning scoreline with their only defeat coming against the Cowcliffe team by, of course, a 2-6 scoreline. Hanging Heaton B had a good 6-2 win over Almondbury BC A which lifted them to just two points behind Thursday's opponents.
FOOTNOTE:
The photoshoot below highlights the cake range offered by the Netherton Con catering team. I have previously referred to the Netherton Cons catering team for creating the 'Cake Capital of Winter League Bowling'. I know that this will get me into trouble with some of the other host clubs but after seeing (and tasting) the range and numbers of cakes for sale this week it has to be said it is a sight for hungry eyes. I understand that there are several of the ladies who produce these tasty treats each week and don't charge the club anything for doing it. They don't even ask for money to cover the ingredients. I know other clubs also enjoy similar support from their catering teams and all deserve mention. Pity they don't offer Bovril as well, but maybe one day!

A 6-2 win for Kirkheaton Con B over Huddersfield RUFC means that they take over at the top of the Division 7 table from their Thursday opponents. That puts them level on points with the Rugby Club and an Aggregate For advantage of 450-435 to push them into top spot. Holmfirth keep the pressure on the top two being only two points behind them after a 6-2 win over a Broad Oak B team still looking for their first win of the season.
Having failed to win any of their first 6 fixtures this season the Lockwood Con B has suddenly become a different team altogether racking up a second successive win with this latest one being an 8-0 win over Huddersfield Recreation Club B. Marsh Lib A also recorded a first whitewash 8-0 victory over New Mill C which saw the losers drop into the relegation places.
