Winter League

Week 1 of the new Winter League season saw four decisive Division 5 winners at Netherton Con where the awful weather was a major factor in the outcomes.

The most decisive result being Thorpe Green 'C' who had a 63-30 win over Golcar C&BC but can they keep that form going as the conditions improve? Also in their favour was the fact that they have already played a season of Winter League bowling which none of their Division 5 opponents have done. This week they take on the Rugby Club and things may be different.
Two of last week's winners go head-to-head as Netherton Con 'B' and Springwood 'C' meet up after both clocked 6-2 opening day wins. The all-ladies team from Golcar C&BC go in search of their first points of the season when they take on the Milnsbridge 'C' team which looks ominously strong at this level.
The Netherton hosts couldn't have imagined a worse weather situation for their opening day fixture programme but the green held up magnificently and hopefully they will be able to look back on that day as a wild introduction to winter bowling never to be repeated. It all starts at 11.30am this Thursday with four jacks and four games on the green at the same time.
