A review of the Division 3 matches played on Monday 17 January 2022
Two shock results from the four Division 3 fixtures played on Monday at Thorpe Green with great results for the bottom two teams. Another 70+ crowd witnessed top-of-the-table Thorpe Green 'C' being held to a 4-4 draw by bottom-of-the-table Springwood 'B' and only a better aggregate score saved an even more humiliating experience for the leaders. Two 21-18 singles wins for the Springwood team set the scene for a major upset but the table-toppers pairs team saved the day and four points although their lead was reduced to just 2 points as a result.
That came about as second-placed Lindley BC 'B' beat Rastrick 'B' 6-2 to keep very much in the hunt for end-of-season honours. The top two teams are due to meet each other on the penultimate week of the season and neither will want to be much adrift of the other by then.
The other shock result saw Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' defying their lowly league position by beating Brockholes 6-2 and seriously damaging their promotion hopes at the same time. That enabled Dalton to step up to third place with an emphatic 8-0 win over Milnsbridge 'B' and stretch their unbeaten run to 7 matches at the same time.
