Division 3 top two head-to-head

Winter League

A preview of the Division 3 fixtures to be played on Monday 29 November

*** NOW RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY 2 DECEMBER ***

The top two teams in Division 3 go head-to-head this Monday as Lindley BC 'B' take on Thorpe Green 'C' with the two teams locked together on 34 points and only separated by 9 points in the Aggregate For column. The two teams have drawn more matches this season than any other team in any of the divisions and it isn't beyond anyone's expectations that they could both increase on that total this week.

Each team's top individual bowler is in the top 2 in the averages charts and it would be really intriguing if the match draw pitches these two against each other and could be decisive in the outcome of the result.

With only 4 points separating the top 4 teams it is clear that matches between teams in that leading bunch become doubly important. It is noticeable as well that the three teams behind the top two have all won more matches than the top two so it wont take much to dislodge either as this division continues to provide the closest race of all three divisions.

With the top two teams fully engaged on each other it may give Brockholes the opening to climb back into the promotion places as they meet a Dalton side buzzing after their draw with the table-toppers last week. As well as the top two in opposition the bottom two teams also line up against each other this Monday as winless Springwood 'B' take on Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B'.

That just leaves the mid-table clash of Milnsbridge 'B' and Lowerhouses 'B' who both enter the week with positive hopes as both won their matches last week. The 8-0 win for Milnsbridge over the then leaders, Rastrick 'B' is worthy of special mention. In fact Milnsbridge have won as many matches as any other team in the division so they may be in a false position at present and this match could be the launchpad for a move up the table.

It all happens at Thorpe Green from 12noon on Monday. Four jacks (one for each match) are on the green at all times. Spectators are very welcome.

Hot drinks (I love their Bovril), sandwiches and savories are available to all.
