Review of the 10-Man League matches played in Divisions 3, 4 & 5 on Yorkshire Day

Division 3 leaders Golcar Lib 'B' suffered a surprise setback when going down 3-6 at relegation candidates Huddersfield Recreation Club but hang on to the top place regardless. That win along with defeats for Lockwood Con 'B' (3-6 at Paddock I&C) and Skel Windmill (2-7 at home to Denby Dale) improved the Rec's situation.
However another team in that relegation mire, Slaithwaite, had a great 7-2 away win at Brockholes 'A' to stay clear of the pull towards the relegation places. That defeat was Brockholes 'A' fourth in their last five matches to drop off the promotion pace whilst Meltham 'B' remain 8 points adrift of the others after a 3-6 defeat at Almondbury Lib.
That win for Almondbury Lib halved the gap to the leaders although Denby Dale stay in contention just behind them. Outlane had a 7-2 home win over mid-table partners Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' and both teams remain nearer the bottom than the top.
The Lindley derby match in Division 4 went the way of the visiting Liberal Club side who walked away with a comprehensive 8-1 scoreline. That left the Lindley BC 'B' team 22 points off a promotion place and surely out of the running for honours this season. That win secured top place for the Lindley Lib 'B' side but they haven't shaken off Springwood who matched that 8-1 score away at Kirkheaton Con 'B' who drop to bottom spot as a result.
Marsh Lib had a difficult match away at Thongsbridge 'B' and just edged it 5-4 to hang on to third place just ahead of Marsh United 'B' who won 6-3 away at Almondbury BC 'B'. Primrose Hill Lib won their home match with Ravensknowle Park 7-2 to move off the bottom spot and in fact jump three places.
The top four teams in Division 5 all won their league matches this week with the eye-catching outcome being Broad Oak 'B's 9-0 home win over New Mill 'B'. That enabled them to pass David Brown Sports who had a good 6-3 home win over Netherton Con 'B' who they in turn overtook in a tight bunch of three teams behind the two leaders.
Top of the bunch remains Milnsbridge 'B' who had a 7-2 home win over strugglers Holmfirth 'B' whilst second placed Brockholes 'B' just got the better of the aggregate (113-110) over Dalton to pinch the points 5-4. Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' completed the list of winners with a 7-2 home success over Hemplow 'B' which means that the bottom five all stay in the same places they were before the first round of August fixtures.
