A review of the 10-Man League Divisions 3, 4 & 5 matches played on Tuesday 30 May
The top three teams in Division 3 started the day level on 41 points with all three facing away fixtures on Tuesday. One of the three lost their match and that was the leaders Brockholes 'A' by 2-7 at Lockwood Con 'B' and that cost them dearly. They drop to 5th place leaving Almondbury Lib as the new leaders after a good 7-2 away win at Skel Windmill.
Golcar Lib 'B' were the other member of that top trio and they also won away at bottom team Meltham 'B' by 6-3 and finish the day in second place one point behind the new leaders. That defeat left Meltham 'B' 11 points adrift of safety and facing an immediate return to Division 4 next season unless things start to change soon.
Paddock I&C and Denby Dale also leap-frogged the previous leaders to assume the third and fourth positions. Both teams clocked up 7-2 home wins with Paddock I&C beating Huddersfield Recreation Club and Denby Dale were impressive in seeing off Outlane by the same scoreline. Salithwaite missed an opportunity to move out of mid-table when surprisingly losing at home to Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' 3-6.
Lindley Lib 'B' took advantage of the Division 4 leader's day off after winning 7-2 at home against Ravensknowle Park to go 3 points clear but having played one match more than any of the teams around them. All 5 matches in this division went the way of the home team with Thongsbridge 'B', Marsh United 'B' and Marsh Lib all winning comfortably to protect their high placings. Almondbury BC 'B' were the only team in the bottom half of the table that registered a win when they saw off Lindley BC 'B' 7-2 but Primrose Hill Lib stay bottom after losing 3-6 away at Thongsbridge 'B'.
Milnsbridge 'B' in Division 5 extended the 6-Man League's only unbeaten record to 7 matches with a 7-2 home win over one of their closest rivals David Brown Sports. That defeat saw DBS drop two places to fourth enabling Brockholes 'B' to climb a place after whitewashing New Mill 'B' by 9-0. Hemplow 'B' created a bit of a shock by beating Broad Oak 'B' by 6-3 and away wins for Dalton and Greenhead Park retained their continuing interest in matters at the top end of the table.
