Veterans League
The table below shows the finishing positions of all the Veterans 10-Man League Division 2 teams over the last three seasons (2023-2025). This provides a quick guide to the progress or backwards turn of each team over the last three years. Check out this link to see how to read the table and work out which teams are making the most progress.
The three columns on the left of the table show the key data that covers the finishing positions of each Division 2 team over the last three seasons. The DIV./POS. columns show the Division and Finishing Position of each team for those three years.
In addition the Colour Code Key table shows the final key positions of Champions , Promoted and Relegated each season for 2023-2025 of all the teams in Division 2.
So what does the table tells us? You don't need a colourful table to highlight the wonderful start that Elland WMC have made to their Veterans League tenure. Two seasons in the League and two Division Championships to boast. In 2024 they took the Division 3 title with a 23-points lead over 2nd placed Denby Dale. Then surpassing that (just) with a 24-points cushion ahead of their neighbours from Elland C&BC when lifting the Division 2 title this year.
This already announces the credibility of the Elland WMC team which was further enhanced by their arrival in the two team knock-out competitions. In 2024 they reached the quarter-finals of the Team KO after eliminating the last two Division 1 Champions, Golcar Lib A and notably Lowerhouses off scratch 144-118. Then last season they surpassed that by winning the Bistro KO competition by beating three Division 1 teams, Lockwood Con A, Cowcliffe and then Lindley Lib A in the Final. Then for good measure they knocked Division 1 Kirkheaton Con A out of the Team KO last year before succumbing to a surprise defeat to a resurgent New Mill A team in the Last 16. Division 1 opposition every Tuesday will hold few surprises for them.
It is also good to see the revival of the other Elland team as the C&BC team return to the top tier after a two-year sabbatical in Division 2. They were a casualty of the reorganisation of the Divisions at the end of the 2023 season when being relegated when finishing third from bottom of Division 1. Failing to make an immediate return to the top division last year by just four points. They are a welcome addition to the top division for next season.
Looking further down the table for a story or two, we note the Netherton Con A experiences over the past three years. After winning the Division 2 title in 2023 by winning 20 of their 24 fixtures they made an immediate return to Division 2 by winning only 4 of their 22 Division 1 matches. Last season almost became a second successive relegation with a last day 8-1 home win saving them from that outcome. Then Golcar Lib B ended their two-year Division 2 membership when finishing well adrift at the foot of the table. They will be looking for an immediate return next season to copy their 2023 experience of lifting the Division 3 title.
