Division 1 bottom four crunch time

Veterans League

Preview of the Veterans 6-Man League fixture programme for Monday 15 June

Marsh United A are the only top four team in Division 1 with a home fixture this week so an ideal opportunity to close the gap to the leaders. They will have to beat 4th placed Milnsbridge A and hope that Waterloo improve on recent results to inflict a second defeat of the season on the leaders, Clayton West.

Lots of interest at the foot of the table with the bottom four teams playing each other. Thongsbridge A will be looking to add to last week's first win of the season but have to travel to play Lindley Lib A who are three places and 10-points ahead of them. That leaves Shepley A and Skel Windmill A to sort out the second relegation place so plenty at stake,

The two teams in the best run of Division 2 form currently go head-to-head as the leaders, New Mill A (who have won their last 4 matches) host Almondbury Lib (who have won three on the trot). It would be a surprise if the leaders didn't extend their unbeaten home record and they cannot afford to drop unexpected points with only a one-point lead over Lockwood Con. That could disappear very quickly as the Lockwood team play bottom of the table Brockholes B.

Longwood are in the relegation places but have won their last two matches so may be on the upwards path but they will do well to extend that run when playing away at Golcar Lib A. With Paddock I&C and Milnsbridge B just above the drop zone and playing each other on Monday there is likely to be some movement on that front this week.

The match we have been waiting for in Division 3 comes together this Monday as the two top teams, both boasting 100% win records, meet up at Thongsbridge this week. Hemplow A are the leaders by one point and the away team. Whoever wins this one will be the Division 3 top dog. Crosland Moor are 7 points behind the top two with a home match against mid-table Linthwaite Hall so can expect to pull some points back against at least one of these teams.

Two points separate the bottom three teams and none of them look to have any easy pickings in this week's fixture programme.

We have a top v bottom clash this week as the Division 4 leaders New Mill B travel to play bottom team Brockholes D who remain the only team in the 6-Man League without a win to their credit this season. It would be a major shock if that came about this week. With the teams in 2nd and 3rd positions playing each other it is difficult to see either of them catching the leaders this week. Greenhead Park B have to go to Netherton Con B with both teams on the same 30-point mark
