Preview of matches scheduled for Divisions 3, 4 & 5 on Tuesday 16 May
The top five teams in Division 3 are separated by just 3 points and two of those teams clash this Tuesday. Leaders Denby Dale have home advantage over 4th placed Almondbury Lib and something has to give as the home side has an unbeaten home record and the visitors are unbeaten away from home. Both teams lost their 100% win records last week so will be extra keen to address those blips in form.
Second-placed Brockholes 'A' are poised to threaten the leaders as they take their 100% win record to bottom-of-the-table Meltham 'B' who are still looking for a first win of the season. Paddock I&C look to have the most difficult fixture of the top five when they have to go to Slaithwaite whilst Golcar Lib 'B' will be aiming to narrow the gap to the promotion places as they have a home match against relegation threatened Kirkheaton C&BC 'A'.
The Skel Windmill v Huddersfield Recreation Club encounter completes Tuesday's programme which will be no easy task for the visitors as the home side have won all three of their home games this season.
Division 4 leaders, Springwood, will be keen to bounce back from a surprise defeat at Primrose Hill Lib last week which lifted the home side off the bottom of the table and removed the five points lead that Springwood had built up previously. A visit to play Ravensknowle Park should be within their capabilities of winning as the home side have only one win to their credit this season and that was against Primrose Hill Lib when they were the bottom team.
Lindley Lib 'B' moved level top after a big 8-1 away win at Kirkheaton Con 'B' last week and will be keen on building on that this week when Huddersfield RUBC are the visitors to their green. However that will be no formality as the Rugby Club sit third only 3 points between the two leaders but with a match in hand and every incentive to collect the majority of the points on their travels.
Lindley BC 'B' and Marsh United 'B' will both feel that they are in a false position being the bottom two in the table with games in hand over the three teams immediately above them. The two teams meet this week and the winner will have some justification for that claim whilst the loser will probably remain deep in the relegation mix. With half of the Kirkheaton Con 'B' team made up of new bowlers the team is in transition so fluctuating results are expected. This week they have to travel to play Marsh Lib who have had a solid if unspectacular start to the season and will expect to build on that this week.
Almondbury BC 'B' started the season with two good wins but then lost their latest two and will be looking to recover that early season form when entertaining Primrose Hill Lib this week.
Division 5 leaders, Milnsbridge BC 'B', play away at Brockholes 'B' this week and that presents a real opportunity for the home side to make a statement on the promotion tussle as they are the only top six team with a home match this week. It will also prove a useful benchmark as to their future potential as this is their first match against a top four team.
With Dalton not involved this week the other three top six teams all have away matches at bottom five opponents and all will need to prove they are capable of winning such matches if they expect to remain in the top half of the table chase for honours. Netherton Con 'B' and New Mill 'B' have both won only one of their five matches to date but are still separated by seven points and two places in the table. With home advantage the Netherton side will expect to extend that margin this Tuesday.
