Winter League A preview of Division 3 matches to be played on Monday 24 January
This week will see Dalton complete a run of 8 matches covering all the other teams in Division 3 and to date they are unbeaten against the other 7. The latest challenge comes from second-placed Lindley BC 'B' who were the last team to beat Dalton last November and that was the only 0-8 reversal suffered by Dalton all season. With one place and 10 points between the two teams this presents itself as the ideal opportunity for Dalton to wreak revenge for that defeat and to push themselves firmly into the promotion race which a big win will certainly do.
Leaders Thorpe Green 'C' will be looking to bounce back from last week's shock result when they were held to a 4-4 draw by bottom of the table Springwood 'B'. That outcome did extend their unbeaten run to eleven matches but they still only have a two-point lead over Lindley BC 'B'. This week they take on Milnsbridge 'B' who are on a bit of a barren run having failed to win any of their last four matches. This Monday Springwood 'B' meet Rastrick 'B' who have won only one of their last seven league matches so raising hopes of moving closer to the pack of clubs above them although being 10-points adrift means that they will still be bottom after this round of fixtures.
Brockholes will be keen to recover from their shock defeat by the Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' side when meeting up with Lowerhouses 'B' this week. If they intend to relaunch their promotion challenge then they really need a big win this week with only 3 matches left to catch up on the other three teams contesting the battle for the two promotion places.
