Review of the Division 3 matches played at Thorpe Green on Monday 28 November
Monday saw the reverse of the opening day fixtures played out and a repeat win for Dalton over the Division 3 leaders Brockholes 'A'. The Brockholes team recovered from that season-opener by going on to win their next 5 fixtures, but Dalton returned to haunt them once again and complete an unlikely double.
The leaders started the week with a 7-point lead but that has almost completely disappeared with now just a one-point lead over Huddersfield Recreation Club who overwhelmed bottom team Almondbury BC 'A' 8-0 to place themselves firmly in contention for the title and an 8-point cushion over third-placed Rastrick 'B'.
The Rastrick team missed out on an opportunity to push themselves into the promotion contest and although they retain third place they are 8-points off the pace at present. Paddock I&C 'A' claimed a second successive 8-0 win this time over Springwood 'B' and they become one of a mid-table quartet, which includes Dalton, who all look settled in that order.
We have new leaders in Division 4 as Milnsbridge 'B' take over at the top after a 6-2 win over Paddock I&C 'B' and take their winning run to 5 matches. That move to the top was facilitated by Kirkheaton C&BC beating previous leaders Lindley Lib 'B' 6-2 as all teams reached the halfway point of the season.
Bottom of the table, Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' lost to their nearest rivals, Netherton Con 'A' by 2-6 and are now 9 points behind them and 12 points from safety. Last week Lowerhouses 'B' beat the leaders, Lindley Lib 'B' but all that good work was undone as they lost this Monday by the same scoreline to Marsh Lib and the two teams are now locked together on 30 points in mid-table. It was a one-point aggregate advantage that tipped the balance Marsh Lib's way and ended their 4-match run of matches without a win.
